reviews for violets are blue
Violets Are Blue is the story of young Violet Bradshaw and her family when they move from their beloved home in England to New York. It deals with her struggles as she tries to adjust to her new life and keep in touch with her dear friend still living in England. From the factory conditions of the early twentieth century to the sinking of the Titanic this book deals with some serious issues but always keeps it upbeat and pleasant with the delightful Bradshaw family and the amusing situations they get into. Lizzy's style of writing is so easy to read and enjoyable...perfect summer reading material here, you guys. I would recommend it to anyone, especially those who enjoy historic fiction. Actually, I had just finished reading a few historical fiction sorta books and was impressed by how the writing of VAB was just as good as that of the other two books, both by veteran, adult authors. I think Elizabeth Rose has a fantastic future in historic fiction in front of her and I can't wait to see where she goes from here and read her future work.
