Movie Night! (October 8, 2010)

08 October 2010

Can you believe it's already time for the third Movie Night? It seems like just a few days ago I started this event, but it was two months ago! Wow. Time flies. :)

Let's review the rule and regulations:

1. There is going to be a movie quotes quiz, which you will have until the next Friday to guess.

- You earn one point if you guess the movie, and a bonus point if you guess what characters say it.
- Each movie quiz will have a theme.
- Cheating (looking up quotes on the Internet) is by all means prohibited. Of course, I have no way of knowing if you cheat or not, but please be honest!
- You MAY watch a movie if you think one of the quotes is in it.
- You MAY ask a parent if a certain quote is in a movie.
- If you have joined, please put up the promo button on your blog, linking back to this post.

2. There will also be one movie, chosen by me, as the "Movie Of The Night," and I will put up the trailer. (HINT: this movie will be one or more of the answers from the quotes quiz!) If you have seen the movie before, leave me a comment letting me know what you think!

And now for the quotes! Tonight's theme is Musicals.

#1 "He's got to at least *pretend* to work with these people. You must convince him."
"I can't ask him to be less than he is."

#2 "My brother is a silly watchdog!"
"Ah, my sister is a precious jewel!"
     "What am I, cut glass?"

#3 "We'd better keep an eye on this one. She's tricky."

#4 "Sometimes there seems like times that men ain't got no need for women."
"There's some times women ain't got no need for men."
"Yeah, but who wants to be dead?"

#5 "When I sit, you sit. When I kneel, you kneel. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera."

#6 "I wonder what grass tastes like."

#7 "Money is the world's curse."
"May the Lord smite me with it. And may I never recover!"

#8 "I'm sorry, dear, but when I chose [name omitted], I thought she would be firm with the children. She looked so solemn and cross."
"My dear, never confuse efficiency with a liver complaint."

#9 "I wanted to marry her when I saw the moonlight shining on the barrel of her father's shotgun."

#10 "When what's left of you get's around to what's to be gotten, what's left to be gotten won't be worth getting, whatever it is you've got left."
"When I figure out what that means I'll come up with a crushing reply."

#11 "Fraulein, is it to be at every meal, or merely at dinnertime, that you intend on leading all of us through this rare and wonderful new world of... indigestion?"

The winner of the quotes quiz will receive a button made by Hannah

And now... for the Movie of the Night...
Aw, who doesn't love this movie? Such a family classic.  I have such beautiful memories of viewing this film with my family countless times. I don't know about your family, but our's is like having the movie commentator on. We discuss the whole film as we're watching it, with my littlest siblings constantly shouting out comments such as, "Ooh, look at the dress!" "She is so mean!" "Aw, Gretl (yes this is how it is spelled--typical Austrian/German spelling) is so cute!" Love it, love it, love it. Movies are so much more fun when you watch them with your family, right? :)

Unfortunately, the trailer does not have a code that I can paste into this post so that you can view it on my blog. However, here is the link so you can watch it.

I hope you enjoyed this month's Movie Night! (or afternoon... :) Sorry for the delay--this post just would not format right, and I finally decided to give it a rest for the night. I hope you understand. Remember to guess the quotes--the quiz will close on Saturday, October 16th

EDIT @ 2:57 P.M. -- The button won't work. It must be a problem with either the code or the image. Either way, this month we will have to go button-less. :(

1 epistles:

  1. Your family sounds EXACTLY like mine! We're always pointing out and discussing as we watch a movie. When I'm the only one in the living room, I often accidentally mumble something, and after a few moments of silence, finally remember no one's in the room. :)
