Fiesta de Octobre at SFMW ~ Fiesta 1

05 October 2010

Miss Jo March of the lovely little blog nook, Scraps From My Workbasket, is hosting a fiesta in honor of the autumn month of October--in espanol, that's "octobre." And so, this blog party and giveaway "wrapped up in one," is appropriately titled "Fiesta de octobre." (And yes, I meant to make "octobre" with a lowercase "o"--that's how it's done in Spanish :).

For details on this week's giveaway, click here. For more information about this event in general, click the button *above*.

Here are the questions that Jo requested I (and all who choose to join in) answer. I will try to be as truthful as possible. :)

{1} What time do you wake up each morning? Why? I wake up at about 6 or 7 A.M. each morning. More and more, I have been getting up regularly at 6 or even 5:30, because I love to get a head start on whatever schoolwork needs to be completed. Face it--I'm an early bird... although my "awakening hours" do not sound as early in comparison to Jo's.

{2} You've just woken up, and you're thirsty. You fix yourself a glass of.... Cranberry juice! What else?

{3} Where do you go to school? What do you like/dislike about it? Well, I homeschool, and so therefore, my school is at my home, so if I don't like it... let's just say, we'd have a problem. :) I love homeschooling, because I have my parents as my teachers, and they are the best! Plus, if I have any questions involving homework, they are frequently there to help me.

{4} How many siblings do you have? What are their names and ages (if you're allowed to share)? I am the oldest of six. My siblings' names are Bree, Emilia, Lydia, Ethan and Ava. Ages? Those are private.

{5} What is your favorite game to play with your family? Either Monopoly with my sisters (who get *very* competitive about it!), or pictionary telephone.

{6} What's the silliest thing you've ever done with your siblings, cousins or any other family member? Would you do it again if you could? Draw faces on marshmallows with magic markers. Read all about it in this post. And yes, I would most definitely do it again!

{7} What's your favorite game to play with your friends? A game with my friends? Oh, it's a little game called Chat About Anything And Everything Under The Sun. You should try it sometime--it's quite enjoyable. :)

{8} If you could meet one person in the whole wide world (who's currently alive), who would it be? Why would you want to meet that person? What would you say to them? I can't choose--this is so hard! There's really no ONE person I want to meet (who's still alive, that is), so I'll just put this roughly: I would love to meet all my lovely friends whom I have met through Blogger, such as you (Jo), Brianna, Emily Shae, Eldarwen, Cassie... etc. You all seem like such wonderful girls, and I wish that I could just throw a party, invite you all, and we could sit down and just have a good long chat.

{9} If you could meet one person in the whole wide world (from the past), who would it be? Why would you want to meet that person? What would you say to them? C.S. Lewis. He was such an amazing writer, and the beauty of the LORD just seems to shine through his books. What would I ask him? "How did you get your inspiration for The Chronicles of Narnia?"

{10} What is your favorite way to worship God? Singing, dancing, playing an instrument, praying, fasting? I love to worship Him through singing, dancing, and praying. I cannot say that I am the best singer, but I still love to sing for His glory!

{11} "God cares about the little things of life." Do you agree? Can you give specific examples of ways that God has shown Himself in the little things of your life? Yes, I do agree. I could be upset because I lost my folder, and it has all my homework for Spanish in it, and I need to find it before the next day, and it would take too long to write it all out again... *deep breath* and He still listens. There could be a martyr on the other side of the world, crying out to Him, and He would not prize their prayer over mine. He loves us all equally.

{12} Is there a particular Bible verse that has stood out to you recently? Which verse and why? Si. Read below.
"Above all else guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." ~ Proverbs 4:23
I think that pretty much sums it up.

{13} Your parents are out for the day, leaving you home alone (with your siblings). Then, your grandmother from out of state calls and says she'll be there in fifteen minutes. (She wasn't supposed to come until tomorrow) What do you do? Um, completely go crazy as I try to get the house all neat and tidy before she arrives. (Not that it wasn't already tidy, I just can get OCD about those things :)

{14} Have you ever traveled out of country? Why did you go? Yes, I have been to Japan and London, although the latter does not really count, being that I was only 3 years old, and I can only remember bits and pieces of the trip. Japan, however, I remember very well, because it was only 2 years ago that I went. (And for those of you wondering WHY in the world I would be in Japan, it was a business trip for my father. He decided to take Bree and I along with him, and it was so much fun... except for all the people speaking Japanese, and we could barely understand a word.)

{15} What sport do you play and what do you enjoy about it? I take dance--ballet, modern, jazz, and hip hop. And yes, I consider it a sport, in a way. I love it because... well, because I just love dancing, and even though I'm not always dancing perfectly, I know that I'm dancing for HIS glory, and not my own.

{16} Do you like cats or dogs better? If neither, specify: I'm not really an animal person, actually. I guess that's what comes of having two family members with asthma.

{17} Country or city? Country. I'm not really a city girl.

{18} Cowboy hat or prairie bonnet? Well, I've never worn a cowboy hat, but we do own a few prairie bonnets (my grandmother bought them at a thrift sale and sent them to us), so I guess I'll have to go with the prairie bonnet.

{19} Flipflops or tennis shoes? Do you even have to ask? Flip flops!!

{20} Do you like Jo's blog? What kind of a question is that? Would I be following if I DISliked your blog? I love your blog, Jo, especially because I just love reading about your family and you, and what you do. It's nice to "meet" people who have things (i.e. homeschooling, large family, Christians) in common with me and my family. So yes, I do like your blog... A LOT. :)

This was such a fun tag, Jo! I enjoyed writing up my answers.

How fun to go on a business trip with your dad! And to Japan of all places...awesome.

The party idea sounds great! I've also thought before how much fun it would be to get us all together:)
