Friday Night is Movie Night!

20 August 2010

Thanks to Eldarwen, who made up this brilliant idea and gave me permission to copy it, from now on, the second Friday of every month is Movie Night. Here's how this is going to work:

1. There is going to be a movie quotes quiz, which you will have until the next Friday to guess.

- You earn one point if you guess the movie, and two bonus points if you guess what characters say it.
- Each movie quiz will have a theme.
- Cheating (looking up quotes on the Internet) is by all means prohibited.
- You MAY watch a movie if you think one of the quotes is in it.
- You MAY ask a parent if a certain quote is in a movie.
- If you have joined, please put up the promo button on your blog, linking back to this post.

2. There will also be one movie, chosen by me, as the "Movie Of The Night," and I will put up the trailer. (HINT: this movie will be one or more of the answers from the quotes quiz!) If you have seen the movie before, leave me a comment letting me know what you think!

That's all! Tonight's theme for the quotes quiz is "Elizabeth Rose's Favorite Movies" (sorry, that doesn't give you many hints!). So fetch yourself a bowl of popcorn, and sit down for a fun movie-themed post!

#1 "[name omitted], isn't it?"
"You know who I am, [name omitted]. The last time I saw you I was eleven, and you put ink in my tea."
"Uh, I believe that was one of my younger brothers, perhaps Samuel or Nathan."
"It was you. And it turned my teeth black for a month."

#2 "Is it Latin?"
"Is it Latin for 'worst game ever invented'?"
"We could play hide and go seek!"
"But we're already having so much fun."

#3 "Lucky guess."
"Nothing lucky about it. Just talent... and intuition."

#4 "Everywhere grime in America, organized crime in America, terrible time in America-"
     "You forget I'm in America."

#5 "Choose your words carefully, Telmarine."
     "You are a mouse."
"I was hoping for something a little more original."

#6 "If I die, I will die well-dressed."

#7 "I do not mean to pry, but you don't by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?
"Do you always begin conversations this way?"

#8 "I can make anything you like."
     "Can you make me taller?"

#9 "My lord, bestow yourself with speed!"
"All things be ready if our minds be so."

#10 "As Abraham said, 'I am a stranger in a strange land...'"
       "Moses said that."
"Ah. Well, as King David said, 'I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.'"
       "That was also Moses."
"For a man who was slow of tongue, he talked a lot."

#11 "It's the dress. You'll have to put on another one before you meet the children."
"But I don't have another one. When we entered the abbey, our wordly clothes were given to the poor."
        "What about this one?"
"The poor didn't want this one."

#12 "Canst thou love me?"
       "I cannot tell."
"Well, can any of your neighbors tell, [name omitted]? I'll ask them!"

#13 "Enough, [name omitted]! Or do I have to sit on your head again?"

Enjoy guessing! You have until Friday, the 27th of August.

Here is the promo button (made by Awel):

And tonight's "Movie of The Night" is...

Now, I will warn you, being about the American Revolution, this movie does have a good bit of warfare. To quote Father Christmas from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, "Battles are ugly affairs." There is one scene that we always skip, it being too bloody. However, it is a fantastic movie all the same, full of truth, moral, and the struggles of our country's men to get out from under the thumb of the British. It is truly a very powerful film, and a must-see. Here is the trailer:

And that concludes this movie night. Remember to guess the quotes! You have until next Friday. :)

1 epistles:

  1. Can we start guessing now? On the quotes you just posted? =)
