Well, they're no precious rubies...

24 March 2010

OK, let's make this clear. I am not a wealthy person. The contents of this page will be extremely... er, LESS valuable than rubies. Got it? Good - we're on the same page.

Now that I got that off my chest I can reveal the prizes for the short story contest. Here they are!

3rd Place ~

An award that says "I Won Lizzy's Short Story Contest."

2nd Place ~

Your own personal blog button, created by me. Give me your blog's name and the link through my email (mutemathgirl@comcast.net) and I will create one for you. NOTE: You are not required to use the button - it is just a free gift for winning 2nd Place. Also, (if you wish) you can give me special instructions on how you would like the button to look.

1st Place ~

An award that says "I Won Lizzy's Short Story Contest," a personal blog button (see *above* instructions), and your story will be put in a special page all it's own on my blog.

~

Are you excited at the prospect of winning these prizes? Sorry - I had to go with these because I really have no way of getting any sort of material prize to you. I hope I didn't break your heart by giving you this sorry fact. But I enjoy creating this sort of stuff, and I thought it would be a good idea. However, I will admit it is not all my own - I have seen blogs that have little buttons on them that say "I Won _____." I didn't want to claim what is not my own, original idea - but how cool would that be if it was?!

A little reminder for those who plan to enter my short story contest: The ending date is May 7th (at midnight). The winners will be posted on May 8th. I will try to get the prizes to you as soon as possible! And, for those of you who don't know about my contest, here are the rules:

SHORT STORY CONTEST RULES:

1. Write a story. Make it fabulous, wonderful, the best story you ever wrote. But is must be original, it must be yours, and no one else may help you write the story. Plagiarism is against the rules, and it is also just plain rude.

2. The story must be 1500 words or less. Sorry. This isn't a novel-writing contest.

3. Submit the story to me through my email: mutemathgirl@comcast.net.

~

Well, that's about it! I deleted the last two rules, because you already know the ending date and the prizes. :) Please, please consider entering my contest!! It won't be much fun if there are only 2 or 3 entries! (And don't wait until the deadline to submit the story - extra points for writing a good story AND turning them in early!)

LATER EDIT: The prizes have been altered. See link: http://lizzyslovelylibrary.blogspot.com/2010/04/please-dont-faint.html

16 epistles:

  1. I wrote a short story about my dolls for my blog, but I doubt it was good enough for the contest. LOL I was wondering, has anyone else entered yet? If you can't tell me then that's fine. ;)

  2. No, no, no one has entered yet! I hope they do soon, but the deadline is not for a month - I guess people are just taking their time.

  3. When is the deadline. And Quinny! How did you find this blog? Lizzy goes to my church!

  4. I saw your comment on my story blog! No, it's not the one, the story is actually on my main blog. ;)

Oh my word!! I didn't know you two knew eachother! :D That is SO cool!!!

  5. Hey Lizzy!

I know I keep commenting, LOL

After I saw your nice comment I was going to enter my doll story, but then I put it into a word document and I found out it's 814 words. Is that ok? 700 words is kind of a short, SHORT story.

  6. Yes, that's fine. I'm going to change the restriction. Check the post *above.* I edited it.

  7. Hey Lizzy, I heard about the contest at Tales of A Godly Maiden. I LOVE writing as well (novels!!!) and I have written short stories... but they're not fabulous! I mean, all my short stories turn out silly:). Never epic or dramatic!
    God bless,

  8. Hi, this looks fun! :)
Can I enter two stories that I wrote a while ago? And is it ok if my mom read over them then? She didn't help me write them, just looked for mistakes or whatever.

  9. Ooh, this looks really cool! I think I shall enter. And I'll put your button on my sidebar so you can get some more entries. ;)

By the way, your blog is beautiful! I think I found you off of Caroline's blog.

    Blessings,

    ~Melody

  10. Hi Lizzy, this looks really fun! I have a couple of questions though: Can the story be one I wrote a while ago? May I enter more than one story? Please get back to me soon! :)

I'm planning on adding your buttons to my blog when my computer allows me to. :)

  11. OK, now to answer these questions...

    Merriette and Katherine Sophia~

Yes, you can enter stories you wrote a long time ago. It doesn't really matter WHEN you wrote them - what matters is the content of the story. And yes, you may enter more than one story. And Katherine Sophia, it would be fabulous if your mom could read over your stories. Seeing how the 1st Place winner will be put up on this blog, I would like them to be as error-free as possible!

    Caroline~

I am sure your stories are lovely! I like humor - after all the turmoil and disappointment in real life, I like to read something lighthearted. So please enter one of your stories!

Alright, I think that covers all of them! And thank you to everyone who put up one of my contest buttons. I really appreciate it!
